Artist of the Month

Fred Bushnell is our featured artist in the Library Commons this month. After a 45-year career as a farmer, he began painting. Not only does he enjoy the activity but he paints what he knows: scenes on his farms in northern Illinois, of Florida where he spends the winters, scenes from personal trips and from traveling with US Dept of Commerce in their USAID outreach to the Philippines and Russia. To quote Fred, "I paint the light, just as other good painters do, with an emphasis on composition and color."

His work has been accepted into many juried shows with awards and honors.

The Moth

The audio and video stories being shared on March 16 are sure to delight. This project, begun on a porch and then expanded via NPR as stories were told, indicates the many fascinating ways and happenings life is enriched through human ingenuity.

Irish Tales

On March 16, in perfect time for St Patrick's Day, enjoy Irish tales, shared by Sheila O'Neill, born in Dublin and who enjoys the Beach during season.

Look at Gift Paks

Books at $5 or $10 per pak are available on the first floor of the library. Each pak has multiple titles of related works or a single title featuring a special edition, either genre or subject-wise. Whenever selections are purchased, they are replaced with new ones.

Registered yoga teacher Susan Carter will share what yoga offers and her own journey in this healing activity, on March 16.

Stay Current

Please keep your e-mail on your library account current and updated. We can send out hold notices or notices of overdue materials, but for them to reach you, the email must be accurate.

Memory Screenings

There are a few screenings slots open in the afternoon on March 17 for there's an opportunity to get your memory checked. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes and provided via the Neuopsychiatric Research Center of Southwest Florida. Pre-register in person and $3 registration fee. Screenings will take place in the Quiet Room, second floor that day.

Thank you for the time and energy you devote to the many tasks you do at the library. We are so much better because of you.

We still have an opening to assist in bookstore shift either from 9 to 1 or 1 to 5 one day a week, and also a one hour time for vacuuming on a Tuesday or Friday. Fill out an application on the first floor if you can make the time in your schedule.
