This is chihuahua adoption week at FAHGAH!
Along with American Staffordshires, chihuahuas are the most euthanized breed in Florida. When we started the Rescue, one of our friends rescued many of them. However, she moved away and is rescuing others now.
Now that she is gone, there is no one special to rescue them locally, so all the rescues share the task, and of course, there are plenty of them to go around. That is the reason you will see many of them in our Rescue. They are very popular little guys!
They come in different sizes: small, larger, long and short hair, some with big ears, some with ones that flop. My family foster thems at our home, and they are a riot! They are affectionate and comical. They are not, however, good with small children. Some of them are too fragile and they could break a leg or their back very easily when handled by a child.
This week we want you to meet all of the little ones we have in search of their forever home. They are all adorable and each have sweet, unique personalities.
Meet Woody, who to no fault of his own ended up in a kill Shelter. Woody is only 1.5 years old and is very friendly. He is like a butterfly and will go from one person to the other to introduce himself and make sure he is petted. Most of the dogs we get are strays, but some have a past with a very nice parent. Woody's parents went to the hospital, and unfortunately had to give him up. He is a young dog so will require exercise.
Zela the Zebra
Meet Zela! She has the funniest haircut we ever saw: looks like she has patches on her body. All she wants it be loved. She weighs a mere 9 pounds and loves other dogs, and well-behaved with children. She is such a joy to have around.
Always in a good mood, she will zip from one room to the other. Zela will sleep with you right by your side every night.
Meet Stella. She is a very petite little one and loves Woody so much. The pair are so cute together. Stella was a stray and is shy, but she warmed up to Woody very quickly. She will be looking at you with her big eyes in hope of love. She has big beautiful ears and weighs almost 8 pounds.
Meet baby Bashful
Bashful was found with Lucy. She is shy at first then comes around fast. She is petite and has really cute ears! She was so scared at the Shelter, she couldn't go into adoption, so we rescued her and Lucy. They love it in their foster home, adjusting very well. Typical chihuahua, loving and energetic. If you would like to meet Bashful please call 239-281-0739. You won't regret it. If you can take both girls that would be fantastic. We just want to save their lives and give them a chance at a happy life!
Meet lovely little Lucy
Lucy was found on the street with Bashful, also for adoption. The two are fostered together, and if you could adopt them, that would be fantastic. Lucy is tiny and has huge ears! She was brought to a Kill Shelter and was so scared just like her playmate, Bashful.
Lucy is young, sweet and such a little hoot. She loves other dogs and loves to go under the covers! If you would like to meet this very sweet girl, please call 239-281-0739.
