An island of scares and screams -- Halloween on FMB

With Halloween just around the corner, hopefully you have your costume all set and ready to go, and are planning to have a very eeriely good time on Fort Myers Beach Friday, through the weekend, on into Monday, as the seven-mile island offers non-stop scary satisfaction when all the creatures, creeps and freaks come out. Not sure where you plan to party yet??Read on for some ideas on what's happening where and when on the island. BOO!

The Cottage is celebrating TWO?eerie nights for Halloween: Fright Night Friday, Oct. 28, and its 29th annual Halloween party Monday. Both are sure to attract all the ghouls and ghosts of the island!

On Friday, enjoy live music from the Steve Farst Trio taking the stage from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. that night, plenty of specials, and a costume contest that awards $100 cash and $100 gift certificate for the first-place individual, and $150 cash and $150 gift certificate for first-place group. Judging is at midnight so be ready to be scary!

Then, don't put those costumes in the closet just yet. Head back to The Cottage Monday for its annual Halloween celebration, with more than $1,000 up for grabs for the costume contest (at midnight), and live music from 3 Crooked Steps, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Beach Zombie Pub Crawl

An annual public Zombie Crawl will be hitting the streets of the island Friday, Oct. 28, and all undead, brain-eating Walkers of the night are welcome to join. Organized by Sarah List, she says, "Get your half-eaten brains crankin' with flesh-gouging ideas for yet another fun zombie crawl along our beach. Stopping at local establishments for refreshments and merriment, whilst eyeing the living (for a possible snack!).

Actual start time and location still to be determined, but be sure to RSVP?on the Facebook event page titled, "Beach Zombie Crawl."

Koreshan Halloween Fun Festival

Koreshan State Park welcomes all families to join them at the Historic Settlement of the Koreshan Unity to celebrate the fall season Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Take a fun hayride, be a part of the parade, and compete in the costume contests. Children can enjoy activities and treats while learning about the services our community has to offer.

There's plenty of fun for families and children 12 and under. Regular park admission applies ($5 per vehicle, limit two to eight people per vehicle; $4 single occupant vehicle; $2 pedestrians and bicyclists). Call the Ranger Station for any additional questions, 239-992-0311.

Castaway's Bar and Grill

Castaway's Bar and Grill is eager to offer a wicked good time along the south end of the island Saturday, Oct. 29, with special food and drink offers that pay homage to the ghoulish holiday. Come by that frightful evening for a costume contest that awards $600 in cash and prizes, plus live music from Wayward Souls, taking the stage at 8 p.m.
