Everyone loves a good gift basket. As we continue through the holiday season, and you may be thinking of what to get good friends, family members and co-workers. With such a wonderful amount of shops and eateries dotting the isle of Fort Myers Beach, why not stop into a few of them to pack up a very special gift basket? Last week we touched base on ideas for a "Sweet Treats" basket. This week, it's all about being naughty or nice. We'll continue the segment of different themes up until the week of Christmas.
This week's theme:?Naughty or Nice.
Everyone enjoys a walk on the wild side from time to time and everyone deserves it on occasion!?This week's theme is all about Naughty or Nice, fun gifts for those who dare to be bold, unique and fun.

A toast to the future
Picking up a bottle or two of your gift basket recipient's favorite liquor can be a very sweet addition to the collection. Both Valerie's Lounge and The Mermaid Lounge have great selections of liquor and spirits, from bourbon and brandy to vodka and vermouth. Include one or two complementing treats, such as a jar of premium olives for the martini lovers, or a fine bottle of Maraschino cherries (made from Maraschino liqueur, not those gross candied cherry alternatives), to sweeten the basket.
While you're there, toss in some scratch-off lottery tickets and perhaps a fine cigar or two.
Donning some rockin' style
The recently opened Nautical Nook at 1660 Estero Blvd. is the perfect spot to pick up some fun, naughty-but-nice pieces of clothing, accessories, jewelry and bath and beauty items for your gift basket.
As owner Lisa Miller says, "We have lots of great items that would be perfect for gift baskets! Our handmade jewelry is mostly one of a kind, so no one else would have the same piece. We have handmade soaps, fizzy bath bombs, and lip-smacking lip balm in several yummy flavors. All of those are great for gift baskets or stocking stuffers."
And if you're just not quite sure what lovely items your gift recipient would enjoy (or if you want to treat them to a custom-created pin-up garment), the Nautical Nook offers gift certificates.
"Our hours are Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In season it will change. If you've been nice this year, ask Santa to bring you goodies from the Nautical Nook!"
Putting it in ink
Many love to wear their heart on their sleeve. Many also love to permanently ink that heart on their skin for all to see forever. For those who enjoy the beauty of tattoos and continuing to add pieces of art to their continuingly growing collection, pick up a gift certificate from one of the island's great tattoo parlors.
Some of the local shops include Fort Myers Beach Tattoo Studios (1901 Estero Blvd.), Paradise Tattoo (2801 Estero Blvd.), Crossbones Tattoo (19051 San Carlos Blvd.), and West Coast Tattoo (17264 San Carlos Blvd.)
As shop co-owner of West Coast Tattoo, Jason Wong says giving the gift of a tattoo gift certificate can be the motivation someone needs to finally get the ink they've been wanting.
"Most of the time, a tattoo is something someone always wanted to get but too afraid to go in the shop to get it or something comes up in life. But giving them a gift certificate, that gives them the motivation to get it done."
A wide variety of gift certificate prices are available for virtually any price range, so feel free to stop into the shop and see what peaks your interest. Call 239-274-8287 or find the shop on Facebook.
You might have that great friend or family member who loves to go out for a night (or two) on the twon who doesn't! Why not pick up a gift certificate to one of the island's taxi services to ensure they have a safe ride home when they least expect it. Or pop in some extra cash to get them a limo or premium car service for the night. All they'll have to do is dip into their wallet and tada it's ready to use!
Some of our fab taxi services include Fort Myers Beach Taxi (239-314-8693), Paradise Beach Taxi (239-470-7500) and Errol's Taxi (239-770-3333).
