Holiday Gift Baskets - Beachy Retreats

December 22, 2016

Everyone loves a good gift basket. As we finish up the holiday season, you may still be thinking of what to get good friends, family members and co-workers. With such a wonderful amount of shops and eateries dotting the isle of Fort Myers Beach, why not stop into a few of them to pack up a very special gift basket?

Last week we touched base on ideas for an "Around the World" basket. The weeks prior included "Naughty or Nice" and "Sweet Treats" themes. This week concludes the series with one more idea.

This week's theme:?Beachy Retreat.

We all live on the beach, work on the beach, play on the beach. It's still fun to sit in the sand, feel the warm sun's rays (even in this dead of "winter") and watch the waves roll across the shore. Put together the perfect beachy basket for any sun-basker out there, utilizing items right here from our island.

Showing off that beach style

What's a beach basket without a swimsuit? Stop by Leani's Swimsuits or Aqua Beachwear, both in the Santini Marina Plaza at the south end, for some of the hottest styles of the swimsuit fashion runways. Not sure of their size or style? A?gift card is always a great gift basket addition!

Staying well-read

Everyone loves a good read while soaking up the sun. Stop by Annette's Book Nook in the Santini Marina Plaza for some of the latest releases to hit the shelves. Also, the Fort Myers Beach Library has a bookstore run by Friends of the Library, offering thousands of lightly read books for very good prices.

Depending on how much space your gift-recipient likes to take on the beach, perhaps consider including a small puzzle in the mix, as well.

Giving it that 'Beachy' feel

While you're at the library, be sure to visit the section of gorgeous seashells, all donated and all available for purchase, with funds going right back into maintenance of the library. These seashells would be the perfect addition to your themed gift basket.

Snacks for the sand

Anytime you're on the beach for a while, you're bound to get some food cravings. Pop in some fresh nutrient-rich items from Topp's Supermarket or Publix right there on the island. For those off the island, WalMart will work perfectly, as well.

Don't forget to stay hydrated

Sure, you can stack a couple bottles of water into that beach basket, but I'm sure your gift recipient would appreciate a few wine pouches, as well. Freshly bagged wine pouches from Paradise Tropical Wines, right on Old San Carlos Boulevard, has a safe and enjoyable alternative to glass-bottle blends, for those who don't want to make a mess in the sand. Wine pouches come in a variety of their well-known and highly enjoyed flavors, like the Hurricane Class 5 Sangria, Mango Mamma, Key Limen and Blueberry Blue.

Staying dry and sunburn free

Placing a soft, plush beach towel in the basket will add a great pop of color to your present, and a couple bottles of sunscreen or suntan lotion will be just what your sun-bathing friend needs when they least expect it.
