TPI is a prayer answered

To the Editor:

I have never met Tom and Mari Torgenson. I am just a community member exceedingly passionate about the beach and passionate about charming architecture. I am particularly passionate about Times Square, the heart of the island, but it goes beyond cleaning up this slovenly depressed area where vagrants loiter. This TPI development is nothing short of a prayer answered for the majority of us who love Fort Myers Beach. TPI's architecture and design alone will clean up Time's Square, even without all their added amenities. A beachside pool, perfection!

My husband and I have a wealth of experience with smart development in communities with character and charm. We know good development when we see it. A development like this can aid traffic problems. With 2 pedestrian cross overs, fewer street curb cuts and Lee County's proposed sidewalk railings along that immediate area south of the bridge, it is a winning combination laying right in front of us. These will be vacationers staying for a week of relaxation and not needing a car. All the shops, bars, restaurants, beach, water sports and bike rentals are in the immediate area. What more could they want? There are trolley stops right there in Time's Square if they want to go further up and down the beach, but I doubt week-at-a-time vacationers will want to. We have owned here since 2008, but prior to that, we were those vacationers.

TPI is the only development to come to Town, where they met with groups of citizens to ask what they wanted, asked how they see this property developed and then executed it directly in line with those requests. The false information spread by those with private agendas is mind-boggling.
