The hard-core facts

To the Editor:

I disagree with Mr. Doug Speirn-Smith (i.e. Voice of FMB) developer of the Harbour House Hotel; TPI-FMB is not producing any non-factual information. Hard core facts on density comparisons of the proposed TPI-FMB, if we were approved for the same hotel density as the Harbour House Hotel was in its 2001 CPD, approved by the Town of FMB, and as later Amended in 2006, TPI-FMB would be requesting 560 hotel rooms.

Further hard core facts on density comparisons of the proposed TPI-FMB, if we were approved for the same hotel density as the Edison House Hotel was (i.e. Voice of FMB) in its 1997 CPD, approved by the Town of FMB, and as later Amended in 2006, TPI-FMB would be requesting 432 hotel rooms.

There always exists nuances for every CPD, that is why the process exists. It exists because the LDC only outlines what can be built without a public hearing process. The Comp Plan outlines the upper limits of what can be approved above the LDC in the CPD process. TPI-FMB is well below the limits established by the Comp Plan. And actually, the Harbour House is right at the upper limit the Comp Plan allows.

We are NOT saying the Town of FMB shouldn't have approved these two previous CPD's. We are only comparing their hotel density to the proposed TPI-FMB, in an apples-to-apples manner, without regard for any of the nuances using the same method as the Town and Expert Bills Spikowski are utilizing.
