Bay Oaks to host bicycle safety event

May 16, 2018
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

In celebration of National Bike Month - and the popularity of bike riding on Fort Myers Beach - the Bay Oaks Recreational Campus staff will host a safety event Saturday, May 26.

The event will be held from 10 noon.

Staff will demonstrate and review how to safety ride a bike. Attendees can also join the bicycle club and meet with a bicycle mechanic.

At 8 a.m., those interested can join a ride to Bonita Road, or at 9 a.m., a fun ride on Fort Myers Beach. The rides will begin at Bay Oaks.

There will be bike demonstrations, free helmets for children, a bike rodeo and ice ceram. The event is free to attend.

"We are certain that events like this will provide quality education to attendants, promote healthy habits, and will have an overall positive impact on our community," said Danielle Felton, event coordinator and Bay Oaks program coordinator.
