July 6, 2018
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one dead Thursday night.

An accident was called in at 11:05 p.m. July 5 at San Carlos Boulevard and Broadway Avenue, near B&B Automotive and the Beach Bowl bowling alley.

Driver Timothy Greg Spinelli, 23, of Fort Myers, was traveling north on San Carlos Boulevard and lost control of his car while trying to navigate the curve at that location. The bicyclist, Bladimiro Lopez Ramos, 39, of Fort Myers Beach, was traveling northbound on the sidewalk. Spinelli allegedly drove onto the sidewalk and began to overturn when he collided with the bicyclist. The bicyclist was thrown into the air and Spinelli's car was stopped by a nearby billboard support pole. The press release and report from the Florida Highway Patrol stated the bicyclist's injuries were fatal.

Spinelli sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. The press release stated the accident was alcohol-related; spokesman Greg Bueno said charges are pending based on the results of the toxicology report.
