Open Letter to Lee County Commissioners

April 3, 2019
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

Changes to Map 14 and free-for-all lime rock mining does not at all serve the public interest since it will allow new mines to open regardless of real need and location.

These amendments should not be approved by the Lee County Board of Commissioners on April 17 when it's back on the agenda.

The county's attempt to disengage the public is disgusting.

You serve the citizens of Lee County not the special interest groups.

I ask you to reconsider your destructive path decisions. The evidence points out your obvious errors in judgement.

What is your motivation? Your actions to gag the public and lack of concern for our ground water quality is reckless.

Do you owe favors to these businesses, their lawyers and associates?

As I said before , the need is greed.

I ask our county commissioners to reveal your associations, campaign donations and any other business related interests with those who will financially benefit from your decisions.

The public wants real answers and full disclosure.

Recuse yourself after a review of your associations if you have any apparent conflict of interest when voting on the elimination of Map 14 and amendments to Lime Rock mining.
