A new venue recently opened at the Lani Kai offering an open-aired lounge near the hotel's headed pool, complete with a full bar, raised platform with vibrant red couches and bistro styled tables and chairs that provides a beautiful view of Fort Myers Beach through wall to wall windows.

"I wanted to add another nice place for guests to relax and enjoy the beach with us. It's a more relaxed, quiet venue that I was so glad to build for everyone," original developer and owner of the Lani Kai Bob Conidaris said in a prepared statement.

He spent more than a half-a-million dollars on the complete renovation of Key West Cove.

The Lani Kai’s all-new Key West Cove boasts comfortable couches to enjoy wall-to-wall views of the beach while hanging out in a quiet, breezy, relaxed and peaceful setting with free wifi.

Lani Kai Marketing Director Melissa Schneider said Key West Cove started out as the first bar at the resort known as Mr. Steve's Bar.

"He was the guy slinging the drinks. We have always continued to use it for private events, wedding receptions," she said, adding that it was renovated a few months ago. "Everything is brand new. It has a great relaxed lounge vibe. It is more relaxed, a South Beach style kind of lounge."

Schneider said the space has a full rectangular bar with a raised platform where beautiful vibrant red couches sit. There are beautiful palm trees and tropical plants in the space.

"The breeze blows through the trees and it is very relaxing," Schneider said.

The space provides free WiFi, which patrons are taking advantage of while sipping on their cocktails. She said they also have patrons that stop by Key West Cove in the morning while enjoying a cup of Starbucks, which can be picked up at the resort.

"It is open to the public and the hours are currently 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.," Schneider said.

Key West Cove is also available for private parties.

"It's still in the shade, so you can enjoy everything on the beach without being in the direct sunlight," she said.

The first event to be held at Key West Cove will be Hookah Night from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, May 18. There is no cost to enter the 21 and up event. Hookahs are on a first-come, first-serve basis and is $30 for the first hookah and $15 for refills. Each hookah can last from 45 minutes to an hour depending on how many people enjoy it, from one to four.

There are four flavors available, mint, blueberry mint, strawberry and apple.

The event will feature DJ Promo, she said, who will be performing some of his awesome beats.

"It's a cool, relaxed fun vibe. The lounge has these beautiful ambient type of lighting. I'm excited it will be opened longer when it is darker to enjoy the lounge in the evening. We will have the full bar available. Come by and hang out by the bar and enjoy the music and relax," Schneider said.

The next event to take place at Key West Cove is the Kickoff to Summer Lounge Party, which starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1. The event will feature several touring DJs, such as DJ Juice, Graf-X, Emerson, Jaime G and Bruce Capo.

"There will be several local and touring DJs that are going to be taking turns with their hands at the turn table. It's a fun time to come out. The full bar will be available," she said. "It is open to the public and everyone is welcome to come out and have fun and kick off the summer with us."
